Mr Gerry Banken (born in Genk, 1984) completed his Master of Laws at KU Leuven in 2007. During his studies, he immersed himself in commercial and company law. This interest led him to attain a post-master's degree in company law at the HUB in 2010. In 2013, he also completed the postgraduate trustee-liquidator programme. In 2007, he joined the Tongeren Bar, now the Limburg Bar. Mr Gerry Banken started working for Adlex Lawyers in 2010. In 2012, he was initially a supplementary trustee before being appointed full trustee in 2014 by the Commercial Court of Antwerp, Department of Tongeren. Mr Gerry Banken is also active in the field of education. For example, from 2010 to 2016, he was a teaching associate at the Institute for the Laws of Obligation of the KU Leuven with an assignment at Hasselt University teaching private law and liability law courses. He has been a law instructor at Syntra Limburg since 2013, teaching a number of legal courses in the real estate and accountant programme at the Genk, Hasselt, and Westerlo locations. Within our office, Mr Gerry Banken counsels and advises enterprises on all aspects of business, from formation, acquisitions and mergers of companies to directors' and officers' liability. He also counsels companies having difficulties within the context of the Continuity of Enterprises Act or within another form of recovery. As a trustee, he liquidates countless bankruptcies in the context of which he also has a number of legal mandates, such as liquidator of companies or associations, and judicial trustee within the Continuity of Enterprises Act.
