New group to passport international high net worth clients

The newest Eurojuris initiative plans to shape cooperation between members to help deliver on the growing international legal needs of wealthy clients.

The Private Wealth practice group will focus on wills, estate administration, family law, divorce and real estate, enabling members to share ideas, specialist expertise and local knowledge to deliver a more joined-up offering for wealthy individuals and families.

Intended to create new opportunities by supporting members in building relationships and understanding the legal requirements in different countries, the group is currently in the start-up phase, but has already led to client introductions between members.   Private Wealth will host a session at the practice group event in May and is expected to launch as an official Eurojuris practice group shortly after, when the necessary numbers have signed up.

The group is chaired jointly by Susan Glenholme, managing partner of Debenhams Ottaway and Anneloes van Tuijn, a specialist private wealth lawyer based in the Netherlands.

Said Susan Glenholme: “With international marriage and property ownership now the norm, making these clients the focus of the practice group will mean a more coordinated experience for them across jurisdictions.  It is a passport to connecting our clients with law firms and lawyers with the right specialist knowledge and experience in each jurisdiction.”

The group has already set up a dedicated page on LinkedIn, with members invited to contribute to the discussion around future topics.  Coverage of events and activities is also available from the practice group area of the Eurojuris website.

“We can’t get together in person yet, but we can build connections by getting together online.  As well as the formal session in May, informal catch-up sessions are planned, where members can chat, share ideas and knowledge,” explained Anneloes.

Susan Glenholme is a UK-based Wills, trusts and probate lawyer, one of a 19-strong team at Debenhams Ottoway involved in delivering on private wealth legal needs.  The firm is a member of LawNet, the UK’s national association.

Anneloes van Tuijn is based in the Netherlands and runs her own firm, focused entirely on private wealth clients and their legal needs.  She is a member of the national organization of family lawyers vFAS (vereniging van Familierecht advocaten en scheidingsmediators) which is acknowledged by the national bar association.
